Little Doll Aprons

I will occasionally gift a handmade doll clothes item to girls at the schools I work at.  Here is another apron, which I have fun making.
Borrowed my daughters doll for a model

Having my apron pattern be reversible or double sided gives a nice finished look

Made my young friend Emma a reversible apron for her American Girl Doll, finally!  It took a little longer than it should have, but I am happy with the end result. I needed to add a little extra ric rac as the recipe mentions fermenting alcohol when talking about sugar as a part of this fabrics design, so I just covered that up sneakily, hahahaha!  Naturally I recieved a squeal of delight and a huge hug!

Vashon Island on a minus tide sunnyday in June

Last spring we had great fun catching the Fauntleroy Ferry in West Seattle. It is a quick trip to Vashon Island, where we were immediately on island time.  Driving south to a beach that has a sandbar that pops out on low tide days, we discovered all kinds of life in the crabgrass.

Washington Park Arboretum ~ UW Botanic Gardens

Washington Park Arboretum ~ UW Botanic Gardens

I am going back to enjoy photos I took last spring, before I caught the Instagram bug.

I really enjoyed this botanical park, all these years it sat here growing without me visiting.

I think now that autumn is here, what a perfect time to go back and enjoy!

The rhododendrons smelled lovely here too.

17th of May Festival in Ballard

This past spring we got to see our daughter in a parade, how cool is that?

2016
Yay Kirstin!

Our daughter Kirstin was in the parade with the UW Norwegian Club.  It had been a few years since we took the kids, and this year we had great weather for it again.  I love the costumes and pagentry and the fun atmosphere of a parade, but to see your own kid smiling at you as she passes by was truly awesome.

MollyMoon's Mother's Day Sundae Mmmmmm

Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream

S t r e t c h i n g Mother's Day like all holiday's, into all weekend instead of a day, had me planting new annuals and some succelents, along with my wintered over geraniums and fuscia's into baskets, and quilting hexagon's, and lying in the sun, followed up with an ice cream treat from Molly Moon's in Wallingford.  We snuck in between large groups, so hardly no wait time at all.  The Mother;s Day Sundae was delish!

Visiting Flower World in the Springtime

Isn't he sassy!
Flower World is a great place to visit, and an even better place to shop! Not only are there plants, trees and all kinds of gardening goodies, across the road you can shop at their little market, where these beautiful birds, along with lambs and goats and other birds live, like the kind that layed the eggs we bought today. I have my cousin Leslie to thank for my excitement about these rainbow colored eggs. I love that she is enjoying her chickens and pigs.

We took advantage of the well labeled and large variety of trees and shrubs for Kirstin to practice naming some confiers, helpful for one of her classes this spring quarter.  Alaina had also enjoyed that class, it includes a 'field trip' to the Arboretum, how fun is that?

The park like setting on a bright warm spring day feels so good.
This is definately a happy place.

A Nelly Moser clematis came home, it makes me think of my Gramma

Pillowcases for fun

Another pillowcase for Kirstin
This is a two sided variation for Kirstin.  On previous pillowcases I did not use the walking foot, as shown here in this collage. It really makes a difference when sewing thru so many layers of fabric.

Now I need to get back to Alaina's lapquilt, which is being made from some matching scientific fabric in a large hexagon style. I have been avoiding sandwiching it together! It is time.

New Year's Day Morning Walk

Well Hello 2016!
My first feeling upon awaking today was one of relief.
Next, was of hope and happiness for the new year.
Morning walk about Magnuson Park
A very cold and crisp sunny morning, perfect for a walk by the lake.
We live in such a beautiful place on this planet!
