Minus Tide at Discovery Park

Discovery Park in Seattle
you can feel you are miles from the city
except there are planes trains automobiles and boat noises

Coolest sound of all was the Raven
he was pondering
why there are so few people out and about these days

Hiking down to the beach

Funguys

Clamshell Wings - everytime

Large drift

Crystal Skull, I'm sure of it

The deer left the beach right here

Years of rolling rocks

He would rather be fishing

West Point Lighthouse

Tidal pools had sea cucumbers and anemones
and other tidal pool creatures of course

and a lone seastar hanging on

New year New adventures - magnet fishing!

Yes! Fishing with a magnet! Oh the thrill of the hunt.
So far, it has yielded lots of metals and a Canadian dime, wahooo!
Today's surprise was a Wacol butter knife
from out in front of a waterfront restaurant!

Trip #1

Orange Shasta Soda, even before pull tabs!

Trip #2

Fresh water finds

a top pocket find :)

Dredged up this log wrapped in miles of fishing line and gear
we left it for others to check out

This was a heavy piece

Winter winds made this a short stop

Wildlife and this view doesn't get old

Trip #3

Third trip - freshwater spot

Nice to be out of the wind at this spot
Super high tide for our third outing.
Saltwater today only yielded a bungee cord but it's
one less thing that does not need to be in the water rotting

This view of Shilshole and Puget Sound just never gets old

Do Koi smell flowers?

According to legend, a Koi who can scale a waterfall
can be transformed into a beautiful golden dragon.

Ok, maybe just going for a nibble not a sniff?

Spring arriving at Seattle's Japanese Garden,
one of the oldest and most authentic in the US

Spring at the Volunteer Park Conservatory

The Volunteer Park Conservatory is one of my happy places and this spring I brought along Kristi to share this with. It was good to walk around the neighborhood and just absorb the beautiful sunny day!

I will keep practicing taking panoramic shots with my phone!

There are always surprises blooming here as well

So many shades of green.

Glasshouses, Greenhouses, Orangeries, feel so full of life

Visiting a feed and mercantile in the city

Last weekend our family visited Portage Bay Grange Feed and Mercantile, is an amazing store for homesteading in the city, conveniently located in the U-district of  North Seattle. What a great resource for not only supplies but knowledge as well. We will be back for sure! We see some chickens in our future...

Washington Park Arboretum ~ UW Botanic Gardens

Washington Park Arboretum ~ UW Botanic Gardens

I am going back to enjoy photos I took last spring, before I caught the Instagram bug.

I really enjoyed this botanical park, all these years it sat here growing without me visiting.

I think now that autumn is here, what a perfect time to go back and enjoy!

The rhododendrons smelled lovely here too.

Mother's Day!
